We’re proud to celebrate our third consecutive year of sponsorship for Armory Focus, the annual Armory Show's section devoted to leading galleries in the international arts community. The Armory Focus has turned its gaze in 2012 to the Nordic countries, featuring art curated by ground-breaking galleries in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. The show is a celebration of the region's growing influence in the art world and its vital cultural presence in New York City.
Ace Hotel New York hosts an Armory Focus annex curated by TagTeam Studio in our gallery space through March 11, showcasing the work of two inspiring young Norwegian artists, Magnhild Øen Nordahl and Vegard Vindenes.
Magnhild Øen Nordahl works with sculpture and installation where painted wood, concrete and industrial materials are used in precision-built structures. Her timber-based sculptures make deliberate use of a painstaking process exploring the role of craftsmanship, tools and machinery in contemporary art and architecture.
Vegard Vindenes works primarily with painting in close dialogue with structural spaces and models, utilizing physical space as a conduit for exploration of personal experience, memory and observation.
Come by and see the show if you’re in the neighborhood.
