No. 8a, the newest addition to Ace Hotel New York, carries a fragrance by Lisa Kirk, an artist who traveled the world to interview ten living cultural and political radicals about their memory of the smell of revolution. Lisa worked with perfumer Patricia Choux and Takasago to create this unorthodox and bold fragrance.
Revolution is more of an art piece than a perfume. It contains, among other scents, the smell of smoke, tear gas, and gasoline, and acts as an olfactory critique on contemporary luxury branding and political im/possibilities. Surprisingly, it smells really good.
Stay tuned for more radical and engaging nuance from No. 8a, brought to us by Project No. 8. They have interesting friends who fill their shelves with intelligent and well-executed ideas.
