Whatiwhati taku pene, kua pau aku pepa
Ko taku aroha, mau tonu ana e.
My poor pen is broken, my paper is spent,
But my love for you endures, and remains forever more.
E hine e, hoki mai ra, ka mate ahau i te aroha e.
Oh my beloved girl, come back to me, I could die of love for you.

This week has been a dark time in the world for many reasons, but this video of onlookers at New Zealand’s Parliamentary legalization of gay marriage singing traditional love song Pokarekare Ana has re-strengthened our hope for this species. Unlock the doors!

Our fair Gotham took a few hits recently but New York can get down without ever being out. As New Yorkers go, we can’t complain. Our extended Ace Hotel New York family came through the way they always do for each other and so did our guests and friends. Not all of New York was so fortunate though. Some New Yorkers could use a hand to get back their NYC swagger and keep keeping on.
We’re donating 10% of all proceeds on the online shop to New York Cares for the next week starting now. In the meanwhile, we’re working on some special wares to benefit recovery efforts with some artists we know and our in-house design team. Until all of NYC is back on its feet, we’re just going to act like this whole archipelago is one big borough and we’ll be looking out for ways to help those in need and ways our friends around here and around the world can plug in to volunteer their time, donations and creativity. We’ll keep you posted.

Tasha just married her sweetheart at Ace Hotel Palm Springs, and we really liked these photos from her wedding. She said:

We chose the Ace because every time we visited we felt at home. The staff is so warm and unpretentious, the fire-pits on site and the amazing swimming pool with hammocks surrounding it all make for a sense of community and they always have rocking tunes playing. Not only was the site beyond gorgeous as a backdrop for our event but it has so much personality as well. We tried to not out-do the space and just use it as inspiration when we were planning our event. Our friends and family all stayed and played at the Ace too. It really was by far the best week of my life with the wedding day as the world’s best cherry on top. I have never felt so surrounded by love. It was amazing.

Love is meant to make us glad. Here’s to that.

Here are some shots from our Valentine’s Day/birthday party at Ace Hotel Portland (we just turned three). It was fun and laid-back. We had a great crowd of all ages who had fun crafting valentines with awesome art supplies from Readymade - especially the Xyron sticker machines. Everyone liked the Clyde Continental breakfast too.
