Ace Hotel

Donovan Edwards is one of our multi-talented colleagues at Ace Hotel Portland — and a sharp dresser. He was one of seventeen artists and groups who set music to tape with Mr. Larry Crane of Jackpot! Recording during MFNW on the Ace Hotel Portland mezzanine. You can see pictures and get full downloads of recordings from Donovan, Emily Wells, Holcombe Waller and others here — just in time for the rainy domestic life that is about to ensue in the great Northwest.

The Breakfast Room at Ace Hotel Portland bore witness during this year’s MusicFest NW to a handful of musicians presented by MyMusicRX, a program of the Children’s Cancer Association, who, like us, believe in the healing power of music. The program records and interviews musicians then uses the videos as psychic medicine for sick kids all over the globe. Eric D. Johnson of The Fruit Bats and Laura Gibson responded to the question, What’s your favorite go-to song or album that picks you up when you’re feeling down?

We threw a brunch in The Cleaners at Ace Hotel Portland for performing artists during MusicFest Northwest and had a good time with the bunch of them — the chipper morning people, the hungover bread hoarders and the beautiful faces of our friends. Thanks to TicketsWest and vitaminwater for providing the feast. Stay tuned for Impossible Project shots of our Jackpot Records sessions in the lobby at Ace PDX and tracks from the sets from Jackpot.
