Family-run Centralia Knitting Mills has been making custom varsity jackets since 1939 and they still make them the same way on the same sturdy knitting machines from days of old. The Ace Varsity Jacket is made from 24-ounce pure virgin boiled melton wool at Pendleton's Oregon woolen mills, chain-stitched with the Ace team logo with pride on the archival machinery at Centralia. In hunter gray, it sports black foldover collar and cuffs, snap buttons, inset sleeves, leather-trimmed slash pockets and our custom Ace x Centralia “Skookum” label. Represent your homes with your choice of one of four area code pins: Seattle, Portland, New York or Palm Springs, available for the holidays on our online shop.

Introducing the Ace Hotel Letterman Jacket, handcrafted by the craftspeople at Centralia Knitting Mills in Washington, sporting our Ace-designed chenille Ace varsity letter and ruggedly handsome hunter grey pure melton wool from Pendleton's Oregon mills. The varsity letter has been a symbol of the sporting life since Harvard jocks started rocking letter sweaters back in the late 19th century. By the time Archie sported the big letter “R” for Riverdale High, letter sweaters were giving way to letterman jackets. Family-run Centralia Knitting Mills have been meeting demand making custom varsity jackets since 1939 and they're still using their original, solid knitting machines to make every jacket.
You’ll pretty much have run of the campus with this one — it’ll serve you well for a row on the Hudson or a stroll through the park with your best girl. Pick it up at Ace NYC or on our shop.

It’s been well-established that New York is a state of mind — one that pretty much demands representation, and gets plenty of it. And nothing says New York like a New York Yankees baseball hat. A universally understood signifier of the team and the city, it’s been done a million ways and worn a million more. Brim forward, angled or back, with casual dress or to the nines, in a city of a thousand languages it’s the constant.
Our limited edition New Era 59FIFTY Yankees Cap in the signature Ace Hotel New York x Pendleton plaid is a worthy contribution to a venerable tradition. Made from pure virgin wool woven in Pendleton’s Oregon mills, they are shaped, stitched and brimmed to fitted perfection by the masters at New Era’s factory in Derby, NY. Available in a limited run to fans of the team and the city online online and at Ace Hotel New York.

Levi’s and VBS.TV recently went on a trip with a group of Navajo cowboys from the Triple B Association  — a bronco and bull riding league catering to the Indian community of the American Southwest. They tailed several of the Association’s toughest and most up-and-coming riders all across New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado to take a peek into their incredible lives — training and competing in rodeos and the lifestyle that goes with it.

We’re showcasing some selected images from the trip, by photographer Brad Bunyea, in our gallery at Ace Hotel New York from November 15 to December 12. Anyone can come see it, and all guests checked in between now and December 12 will get a special Pendleton x Levi’s Ace NYC keycard holder.

You can also see the video on VBS.TV and get a look at a special product line that inspired the trip, from Pendleton for Levi’s.

If your week was as busy (and inspiring) as ours you might do as we did and watch this video many times in a row in a sort of soothed, lulled stupor as Pendleton blankets are woven in a low whir of threads and then spread on the floor like peanut butter. Pendleton, take me away.

This video and these pictures were made by our pal Jay Carroll of One Trip Pass (of Oregon Fire Lines and coastal caravan fame — at least the fame of our small and humble blog). Right before we rolled off on our coastal caravan, we got a tour from Charlie Bishop at the Pendleton factory in Oregon. Pendleton is over 100 years old. But Charlie is not. Pendleton makes blankets for Ace Hotel, and they make the best damn flannel shirt you’ll ever find.

ONE TRIP PASS X ACE HOTEL : PART IV
Ace Hotel and One Trip Pass continue our coastal caravan from Portland to LA to “rediscover American craft and standards, humor, kitsch, oddities, and the beauty of storytelling through artists, craftsman, individuals of character, stores, markets, wilderness and urban sprawl.” Notes from the Airstream:

It’s the beginning of week two of our trip down the coast, and in true caravan form, ours has expanded. After five days traveling down the 1 and the 101, we met up with our friends Nile, Cass and Lisa of Gravel and Gold who treated us to a welcoming party at their Bolinas getaway, full of good friends old and new, delicious farm stand food, wine and great times. The next morning we hit the road yet again to continue on, this time with Cass and our friend Andrea of Fjallraven on board.Keep an eye out for our LA and PSP pop-ups starting this Thursday, with goods from both shops as well as: APOLIS ACTIVISM // BILLYKIRK // BEST MADE // FIELD NOTES // GOLDEN BEAR // THE HILL-SIDE // MOLLUSK // MEG CO // PEARL+ // PENDLETON // RAPHA // RTH // TANNER // WAR HORSE MOCCASINS // YUKETAN
Take us on to Big Sur, road.

Remember your bed at Ace Hotel Portland? It was really soft and looked good. You can get an exclusive Pendleton x Ace Hotel Portland pure virgin wool and cotton blanket, and then your bed will be like that, too.

Woven in Pendleton, Oregon and finished in Washougal, Washington by Pendleton Woolen Mills, a 140 year old company based in the Pacific Northwest, just like Ace. Email Ace Hotel Portland. They’ll send you an order form and then put one in the mail for you.

Pendleton also makes blankets for Ace Hotel New York. Send them a note if you’d like one.
