Sainted comedienne and American sweetheart Phyllis Diller will be so sorely missed. In tribute, our friends Thomas Lauderdale and Philip Iosca shared this recording of Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile” — Phyllis’ last — that she made with Thomas in her living room in LA in February. The photo is a Polaroid taken by Thomas that afternoon.

Our friend Philip Iosca holds an opening party for his first-ever solo exhibition this evening at PNCA’s Manuel Izquierdo Gallery in Portland, Oregon. His new collection of nine works, HOPEFULLY I BECOME THE UNIVERSE, is inspired by seven extraordinary young men from across the United States who independently ended their lives last summer as a result of the bullying they received for being openly gay or perceived as gay.
Philip co-created Ace Portland with our creative team, and he and his partner Thomas, pictured together here in their home in Portland, are old and dear friends. If you’re in this neck of the woods tonight, we’ll see you at the reception from 6 to 9pm at 1302 NW Kearney Street. The show is on view through October 27.
