Palm Springs is gilded around the edges with illustrious cinematic history. It’s a romantic and strange place in love with the power of film. So, in celebration of the Palm Springs International Film Festival, we’re holding a contest for two full access screening passes to the festival.
Submit a short film between 1 and 3 minutes long, using both umbrellas and bellbottoms on the cast or as props, in honor of the festival’s opening night film, Potiche. Send a YouTube or Vimeo link of your film to filmfest@acehotel.com by 6pm PST on January 5. We’ll announce our winner the following day — but you’ll also get two vouchers (while they last, people!) just for entering, which you can use at any screening.
We’ve also got some special packages for the festival that include vouchers and a couple of rare full access screening passes. There aren’t very many available, so get em while we got em. You can find all Ace events for the festival on our calendar.
And you have a week to make a masterpiece, so get crackin!

Local vendors and crafters are holding a winter shopping market this weekend at The Cleaners at Ace Hotel Portland, called Little Winter Market. All the goods are made by hand, and you won’t find these wonderful things anywhere else. The market kicks off a season where we’re trying to re-create your holiday experience by making the process of gathering gifts feel good rather than stressful. Now until the end of the year, you can get 10% off your room at Ace Portland and 10% from a host of truly remarkable local designers, collectors and creators. Just show them your room key. You also get 10% off all Ace goods, like Pendleton blankets, Fjallraven backpacks, Malin+Goetz products and other things you can buy in our lobby. In addition to all the discounts, there’s no sales tax in Oregon, so if you’re coming from Washington or California, you can really Stick It To The Man — which is actually what we named this whole package.
